I’m Jason Nicholas—an architect, artist, and teacher who’s passionate about helping others discover the joy of sketching architecture. My approach is all about capturing the character and personality of buildings through loose, expressive lines that tell a story. Over the years, I’ve developed a style that’s quick, playful, and full of energy—perfect for anyone looking to embrace imperfection and build confidence in their sketches. Whether I’m teaching workshops, creating videos, or sketching on location, my goal is to inspire others to see the world differently, connect with their surroundings, and let their creativity flow freely. Is this workshop for beginners?
Absolutely. If you can scribble and draw wonky lines, you can sketch along in the workshop. This workshop is not about creating precise and perfect lines.
Do I need to sketch in your style?
Nope. You can sketch in any style you like. I will be sharing my loose style and you are welcome to follow along. Just do you!
Is this online workshop being recorded?
Yes. The workshop will be recorded and the recording will be available for a limited time afterwards.
Do I need tons of fancy schmacy tools and materials for the workshop?
No. A pen or pencil and some paper is all you really need. However, I will be adding color to my sketches with ink, watercolor, and color pencil.
